Description:
Durant Four prototype radiator emblem. In August 04, 1921 the first Durant Four automobile was exhibited in New York. This item is believed to be a prototype that was found in a box of items in a barn in upstate New York along with a box of new unused Flint Automobile data plates from the Durant Motors Inc. Long Island, New York assembly plant. According to Durant Motors Automobile Club Historian Robert Smith, the badge design is the exact shape and size of the Sheridan Automobile (Last car designed by William C. Durant while at General Motors). This size shared dimensions with those of the Sheridan, Princeton, Flint and Star Fleet Truck. He believes this emblem might have been used on the first couple Durant Model A-22 vehicles maybe show cars that were manufactured in Long Island, New York. Later Durant Model A-22's would sport a different emblem.
